Katherine McDowell is a versatile visual artist currently focusing on monotype printmaking – handmade, one-of-a-kind prints made by applying ink to a plate and running it through a hand-cranked press with high-quality printmaking paper. Her current series of over 450 “Lake Monotype” prints has been widely shown and purchased since its inception in 2008. Prints from this series have been selected for 11 solo exhibitions regionally and accepted into over 50 national juried group exhibitions.
In 2023, she started a "Landscape Monotype" series as well. To purchase abstract seascape or landscape monotypes, visit The Portland Art Museum’s Rental Sales Gallery or contact: [email protected].
Artwork can also be purchased at The Josephy Center for Arts and Culture. Katherine teaches monotype workshops at Wildcraft Studio and is a member of Print Arts Northwest, The Monotype Guild of New England, Los Angeles Printmaking Society and The Boston Printmakers.
